Erbium:YAG removes the outermost layer of skin in a precise, light-handed pass, then lets new collagen fill in the indentations left by acne scars. The beam carries very little heat into the tissue around it, which is why it treats surface-level and moderately deep lines on the face, hands, neck, or chest with fewer side effects than deeper resurfacing lasers. It tightens the look of large pores along the way.

What to Expect
A lighter laser still deserves real preparation. Here is the arc from your first skin review through the last week of sun protection, so nothing in it surprises you.
Your provider checks your skin tone, recent sun exposure, and medication history first. Recently tanned skin cannot be treated, and some medications need a pause well ahead of a session.
You avoid the sun for two weeks, pause retinoid and acid-based topicals about a week out, and raise your water intake starting one to two weeks prior.
The treatment is outpatient, with numbing cream applied first. Wear comfortable clothes, skip makeup and jewelry, and plan for the face, hands, neck, or chest.
Skin typically dries and peels around days three to seven. Healing runs five days to three weeks depending on the condition treated, with careful sun avoidance for four to six weeks after.
