So, What is a PRP Facial?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is, in a way, a method of self-healing, as it uses your own blood, therefore minimizing the risk of infections or rejection. PRP contains up to five times more proteins, platelets, and growth factors to promote healing and regeneration of the tissues. These properties have been known to medicine for years and the technology is now being used in cosmetic medicine to help reduce wrinkles on the face and improve appearance in other places on the body. Treatments can be combined for maximum impact with minimal procedures and minimal downtime.

PRP is short for Platelet Rich Plasma

The clinician begins by drawing blood from the patient, which is run through a centrifuge (a machine that quickly rotates) to separate the plasma from the platelets. The plasma (PRP) is injected back into your skin, where it stimulates a localized stem cell response to produce new tissue. Over time, the stem cell response calls on fibroblasts, which are specific kinds of cells that produce collagen. The fibroblasts replace the damaged tissue with new, healthy skin.

What to Expect from PRP Injections

In my personal experience with PRP as a provider in cosmetic medicine, I have seen optimal results in patients undergoing any of the PRP treatments we offer at Arviv Aesthetics. My favorite procedure involving PRP is when we inject it in the face to help with fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tightening. As an added bonus, the PRP also helps to stimulate collagen which in time, helps with volume loss. We can even inject dermal fillers at the same time, to further improve the results. The best part is we can start to see results the same week as the injections and patients are extremely satisfied. Upon seeing patients back for follow up just two weeks later, skin texture is noticeably improved. Patients look years younger and they are truly glowing!

Our Team on What a PRP Facial Is and Their Benefits

“Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a great rejuvenating treatment that is used for many purposes. Personally, I love the combination of micro-needling with PRP. It has healing powers and helps to speed up the downtime.  I have also seen the amazing anti-aging powers it has on any areas being treated such as face, neck, décolleté and even scars. The transformation is amazing even months later when the body produces more collagen, therefore, causing the lifting effect. It is one of my favorite treatments to perform.”

PRP treatment has become more popular in recent years especially with patients who are looking into more natural ways of rejuvenating their face or body, without using Botox or fillers or to extend the effect of injectables. It is also used for hair loss.

“A vampire facial or PRP facial is a combination of micro-needling and PRP. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from the whole blood after it has been processed by spinning in a centrifuge to remove the red cells. The PRP has a greater concentration of growth factors than the whole blood. And growth factors are what our cells make that can help tissue heal and repair, which means it can help with all sorts of skin issues like rosacea, fine lines, and wrinkles,  post-acne scarring, minimizing pores and overall firmer and younger skin. Make your appointment at Arviv Medical Aesthetics for this fine procedure and start enjoying younger and healthier YOU!”

“I love to use PRP with Microneedling. Microneedling creates micro-injuries to the skin to stimulate collagen and provide an entry for the Plate Rich Plasma to penetrate deeper and work to enhance the texture and elasticity of the skin.”
