What are Botox and Dysport?
Botox is a routine, non-surgical cosmetic treatment that temporarily reduces and removes wrinkles, producing a rejuvenated and youthful appearance. Dysport, an option that is a very similar to Botox, also works to diminish noticeable expression lines. Although Dysport is a newer treatment in the market, like Botox, it is FDA approved. Both treatments can be used to reduce vertical lines between the eyes, forehead wrinkles and furrows, crow’s feet, mouth and jawline wrinkles, and neck bands.
The differences between Dysport and Botox are minor but important to know. Dysport is a smaller structure than Botox, therefore, more units are required within the injection point. Although Dysport requires more units, it is priced differently and therefore the cost generally remains the same between the two products. Another important difference is the time it takes to notice the results. Dysport tends to start working quicker 2-3 days while Botox may take 7-10 days to start noticing the results. Either way, after any treatment it is recommended to wait 2 weeks to see the full effect.
Process and Procedure
Regardless which treatment you choose, our team will determine the optimal location for injections to ensure the best results. When receiving Dysport or Botox injections, our board-certified staff will use a tiny needle to inject the small muscles that contribute to the expressions that result in wrinkles with small amounts of a purified protein that targets the nerves of the muscles injected. Once injected the nerves are blocked and are unable to release a signal to the muscles which normally allow them to move. The muscles remain relaxed so that the lines and wrinkles created by expressions become less visible.
You can expect a bit of redness and swelling at first, but this clears up within 10 minutes so you can go about your day without issue. Cosmetic Botox treatments produce noticeable results within 7-14 days. Both treatments last for about three to four months, however, the more treatments you receive, the longer the results will last.
Your skin before and after Botox is noticeably different and in all the best ways possible! You will end up with much smoother skin.
As an added bonus, Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating, constant migraines, muscular disorders, muscle twitching such as blepherospasm, and potentially bladder or bowel issues.

Before any procedure, it is important to know some of the potential side effects. Below is a list of possible reactions.

Neuromodulators are a purified protein that blocks receptors at nerve endings, preventing release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, thereby preventing muscle contraction. Neuromodulators are used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles of the face into which it is injected, and to prevent future wrinkles.
It takes from 4-7 days to see optimum results for Neuromodulators. You may require additional units at a subsequent follow-up visit within two weeks to complete the injection series to obtain the goals we have discussed. 10-50 units per area is only an average and is by no means the standard. Males usually require more than females. People with stronger muscles may require more. Neuromodulators will not fill any wrinkles/lines; they relax and smooth the moving lines, not stationary wrinkles. The results from a Neuromodulators can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months or more. The duration will vary from patient to patient.
