Light, medium and deep chemical peels are a popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure used to peel away the skin’s top layer to improve sun-damaged, unevenly pigmented and wrinkled skin.

What is the VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a medical-grade, non-surgical cosmetic procedure that reduces lines, wrinkles, scars, blemishes, sun damage, uneven skin tone, spots, and other skin flaws through a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients ideal for all skin types. The VI Peel involves the removal of the dead outer layers and revealing the fresh, healthy skin beneath. The result is a healthier, more youthful appearance.

The VI (or Vitality Institute) chemical peel is a non-surgical treatment that uses a medical-grade chemical exfoliant. This exfoliant is used to improve the severity of wrinkles and fine lines as well as diminish the visibility of acne scars, blemishes, and sun damage while evening out your skin tone.

The peel exfoliates the top layers of the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing the healthy, youthful skin underneath. The entire process takes about 20 to 30 minutes. The skin is cleansed, and the VI peel is then applied to the skin with a soft applicator. The peel may cause your skin to experience a warm sensation as it penetrates its deeper layers, but this is completely normal and only lasts a few minutes.

Once applied, the peel needs to remain on the skin for five hours. Our friendly and knowledgeable aestheticians will give you detailed instructions on how to remove the peel at home. You’ll also get instructions on care for your skin after the peel is completed.

Benefits of the VI Peel?

VI Peels is the face of the next generation of chemical exfoliants like none other that you might have experienced. The VI Peel reduces and may fully get rid of freckles, age spots, and hyper-pigmentation, including melasma. It clears up acne flare-ups, reduces the appearance of pore size, and diminishes the appearance of skin discolorations. The VI Peel softens the skin and can eliminate wrinkles and fine lines. This medium chemical peel also invigorates the production of collagen.

• Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
• Decrease in hyperpigmentation, creating an even skin tone
• Improvement in damage caused by the sun
• Improvement of scars caused by acne

What to Expect During Recovery?

Peeling will last for about two to three days, and you will have the post-peel kit to help you manage that. For 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure, you should avoid direct and prolonged exposure to the sun, use of skin exfoliating products, and touching or pulling on the skin, just let it peel naturally. A visible improvement in your complexion is realized once your skin is done peeling and fully recovered. Within the next four to six weeks, you will notice improvements as your skin becomes more luminous, healthier, smoother, clearer, firmer, and younger-looking.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How is the VI Peel different from other peels?
A. Peels of the past have emphasized the “no pain, no gain” approach to skincare. Deeper, more painful peels with extended downtime were thought to produce with better results. The VI Peel is painless, yet produces dramatic, visible results in just days.

Q. Does the VI Peel make the skin thinner?
A. No. By sloughing off old cells, skin renews itself at a faster rate. The skin actually thickens because the dermal matrix is stimulated to make more collagen an elastin.

Q. How many treatments are required to show visible results?
A. A single VI Peel will achieve significant repair and impart a healthy glow to the skin. It is a true restorative, painless repair of damaged skin cells resulting from UV exposure and acne. Best of all, it is an aging preventative for younger patients with no visible damage.

Q. Does it burn?
A. Patients will feel a slight tingling sensation for a few seconds which subsides almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, with numbing of the skin taking place after the first pass.

Q. What about normal activities following the VI Peels?
A. There are no restrictions. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after the peel. For patients who exercise routinely, low impact aerobic activity would be advised for 72-96 hours.
