Melt Away Your Double Chin
Having a double chin can affect your self-confidence. You may think your double chin makes you look older than you feel. Only a few years ago however, removing excess fat from under your chin required surgery. The prospect of undergoing this painful procedure with considerable time needed for recovery was daunting. Still, as of just last year, 73 percent of people with double chins are bothered by the condition.*
There is good news. The team at Arviv Medical Aesthetics in Miami offers Kybella®, the only non-surgical, FDA approved injectable drug used to reduce a double chin. With just a few treatments you can regain self-confidence and feel great about your appearance again.
Kybella contains an artificial version of a naturally occurring molecule in your body called deoxycholic acid, which breaks down and absorbs dietary fat. When the solution is injected under the chin, it eliminates the targeted fat cells and melts away the appearance of your double chin.
Is this Double Chin Treatment Option Right for You?
Meet with a board-certified physician in Miami to determine if you are a good candidate for Kybella. Adults who wish to avoid surgery, are of a healthy weight, don’t have skin that is too loose and, want to eliminate stubborn fat under their chins typically benefit from this treatment.
What You Should Expect From Kybella
This cosmetic procedure is pretty straightforward. At each visit, a dotted grid marking the injection locations is placed on the treatment area and the solution is injected. Patients may feel a temporary burning sensation during the office visit. Each treatment plan is unique and the number of sessions you need will depend on your personal goals. Some patients reach their goal in 2-4 sessions and others receive up to six treatments. However, all treatment plans include at least one month between each session.
Once the fat cells are destroyed by this double chin procedure, they can no longer store fat. When your aesthetic goals are reached, no further treatment is expected.
Side effects most commonly reported by patients include redness or bruising, pain, numbness, swelling, and areas of hardness around the treated area. These typically do not last more than a few days to a week.
Some patients have experienced more serious side effects, including injury to the jaw nerve, difficulty swallowing, weakened facial muscles, or uneven smile. These effects resolve themselves in about six weeks or less. Any side effects should be discussed with your doctor immediately.
